Host Guide

Hosting Playground Social

Hosting Playground Social is about providing the conditions for a room to hold itself well. This guide exists to give clarity, not control. Use it as reference, not a script.

Hosting Standard

As a Host, your responsibility is to provide a space and level of hospitality that supports ease, movement, and conversation. The atmosphere should feel generous, relaxed, and intentional.

Food and Beverages

Hosts provide light grazing and beverages for the evening. This is not a seated meal and not a formal catering experience. Think in terms of flow rather than service.

  • Food should be easy to eat while standing and talking.
  • Beverages may include alcohol, but non alcoholic options are essential.
  • Quantities should be sufficient so guests do not feel constrained or monitored.

Hosts cover the cost of food and beverages as part of holding the event. This contribution is not reimbursed and is considered part of the hosting role.

Venue Considerations

The space should be safe, accessible, and suited to conversation. Lighting, layout, and sound matter more than size or prestige. The goal is a room where people can move, gather, and speak comfortably.

Arrival and Welcome

You will offer a brief welcome at the nominated time, typically three minutes. This sets tone only. No selling. No personal promotion. No announcements beyond welcoming people into the space.

After this, the evening takes care of itself.

Boundaries and Conduct

Playground Social is not a platform.

  • There is no pitching, recruiting, or extracting.
  • Hosts are expected to uphold these boundaries calmly and discreetly if required.

Support

You are not doing this alone. Home Leaders are responsible for event rhythm and guest flow. Playground will support you with clarity and guidance if anything feels uncertain.

A well held room does not draw attention to itself. It leaves people wanting to return.
